The HxGuide is a compilation of digitmind maps is essentially a diagram with a central node in the middle that represents an idea or a concept.

Freemind is a mind-mapping tool that helps to visualize

Step 1: Download Freemind software from https://sourceforge.net/projects/freemind/

Let’s take an example of Hypertension screening protocol

Nodes: Nodes help connect various branches throughout the midmap

Step 2: The single node seen on a new file is the ‘Root node’. This is the main title of your protocol

Step 3: Create ‘Parent nodes’ from the root nodes. These are the first level of protocol questions

Step 4: Create ‘Child nodes’ from the parent node. These are the second level of protocol questions. Many such levels of questions can be nested under the root node.

Attributes: Attribute define the characteristic of the node

Tips:

  • It is recommended to limit the level of questions to 3-4 levels to avoid confusion for the user.
