How does it help?

Ayu task shifts healthcare processes that are normally done by doctors or nurses to CHWs. These healthcare processes simply mean various components of Clinical Case evaluation i.e. history taking and physical examination which is what a doctor would ideally do.

It is designed to guide CHWs in performing health screening, medical history taking and physical examinations in a clinically correct and evidence-based manner by facilitating quick and easy access to clinical history taking and examination guidelines protocols (including universal safety precautions while examination) in an easily accessible manner (via mobile app) in a clear content and present the data to the doctor in an easily understood way.

Telemedicine and Ayu is useful for the following set of people:

Health Workers

Our technology empowers the CHW to perform more varied clinical functions. It provides support for the CHWs to make their decisions in a clinically correct manner. With prompts from the app, CHW's can provide CPHC services for a variety of conditions like geriatric care, maternal, neonatal and child care, mental health, infectious diseases, neurological conditions, cardiovascular conditions, and other non-communicable diseases. The idea here is that these myriad cases can be handled successfully by a single individual rather than a multitude of CHW's and can be then referred further to the respective remote specialist doctor for further case evaluation and management.

Doctors

It allows the doctor to manage the patient case remotely and efficiently. The doctors (especially specialists) do not need to travel to remote rural villages to treat simple cases that can be treated via teleconsultation remotely. Also with Ayu being so comprehensive and detailed, the doctors need to only call the patient for building a rapport, obtaining any additional medical findings and inform regarding the management plan.

Patients / Participants

Digital Platforms provide convenience to the patient as they decrease the time and money required for travel particularly for patients living in areas with low access to physicians and specialists and disadvantaged community (women, children, elderly and the poor). Ayu helps in standardizing the treatment, maintaining patient safety and providing quality evidence-based treatment and provide a range of healthcare services from remotely located specialist doctors, all through a single point of contact, a trusted community health worker.

Organization

To an organization, such elaborate guidelines can also provide a locally adhered standard checklist for CHW's, Doctors and other users, with which the doctors can work and against which they can be audited. Such protocols may also decrease the risk of medico-legal challenges, as the organization has a robust, detailed and evidence-based medical case evaluation.
